Bay St. Louis MS is a waterfront city that gets its name from St. Louis Bay, the major waterway that borders the east side of this city known for its art, fishing, and Cajun cuisine. Bay St. Louis was severely damaged during Hurricane Katrina but has made significant gains in reconstruction over the past several years. In 2009 there were 75 homes for sale recorded as closed in the largely waterfront city of Bay St. Louis. Of these 75 homes for sale that closed 7 were less than $50,000, 14 were $50,001 to $100,000, 27 were $100,001 to $150,000, 13 were $150,001 to $200,000, 9 were $200,001 to $250,000, 2 closed from $250,001 to $300,000, 2 from $300,001 to $400,000, and 1 closed for more at $615,000.

The most expensive home that closed was a waterfront beach home for sale listed at $700,000. It was within walking distance to the beachfront downtown area known as “Old Town”, and had 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, and 2800 square feet. This home sits on some of the highest ground in the city and did not flood during Hurricane Katrina. Beautiful ancient oaks compliment the beach view from this home’s terrace which overlooks the mouth of St. Louis Bay. There are other similar properties available in this area! :)

MS. Of these listings 6 are under $50,000, 47 are from $50,001 to

The highest priced home for sale to close in Gulfport, MS was a plantation style waterfront home in Bayou Plantations. This home boasted over 6,000 sq ft and included 4 bedrooms, 5 full baths, and 2 half baths. This opulent home reflected the traditional elegance of a south MS plantation home with today’s updated features.
